WHO WE ARE
Prior to 1985, the village council for Rexton had looked at recreational needs for the community and region. Following much discussion including results of a survey which had been sent out through parts of the county, council had taken the bold step of deciding to build a curling club. Members of the council at the time were Mayor Conrad LeBlanc, Councillors Arnold Daigle, Jim McWilliams, Dave Hanson and Barry Glencross. Our first president was Dave Hanson.
Mostly funded through government grants and with some additional funds from the village of Rexton, in 1985 the club was officially opened under the name Rexton Curling Club. Curling members started learning the game through help from Moncton Curling Association (MCA) and Chatham curling clubs. Norbert and Andrea Parent were two of the few members who knew how to curl. The club held a men’s, ladies and mixed bonspiel in its first year and in all subsequent years.
For the first 35 years, through a very successful management partnership agreement with the Village of Rexton, the facility was managed and operated by the curling club members on an annual basis. After being closed in March 2020 due to the pandemic the club was notified by village council that they would not be renewing the current management agreement with the club.
The Rexton Curling Club and the Village of Rexton now have an ice rental agreement in place. The Curling Club is now refocusing its available volunteer hours toward promoting and growing the sport throughout the county. This new direction has also seen the name "Rexton Curling Club" change to "Kent Curling".

A major expansion of the club took place in 2010 (expanded club capacity, renovated lounge, improved kitchen, enlarged changing rooms and better sanitary facilities).
New Logo
With the name change, a new logo seemed in order. A contest was held in local schools. Émilie McGraw, a grade 7 student at École Mont-Carmel in Ste-Marie de Kent, won the contest. Here's her explanation of the logo's meaning:
In the background is a map of Kent County. A large stone and two brooms represent the sport of curling; two essential accessories for curling. Next, a blue banner represents the ice on which the sport is played. The yellow border represents the energy and fun involved in curling. The name of the curling club appears on the ice section of the blue banner.
